We woke up this morning with the bike still outside, and even nicely sheltered from the overnight rain.
But it’s with a heavy heart that we must say that we’re scratching from the event😞. We know it’s never right to scratch on an evening when mentally and physically tired, so we waited for the morning.
We’ve both been getting increasingly tired day by day, to the extent where we’re not making good decisions. On a few occasions we’ve turned the wrong way, even into one way streets against the traffic, or riding to close and almost crashing on occasion.
Clara’s knees are causing her pain and my upper legs are in pain whenever I try to put down any power. And we’ve been able to do an ever decreasing amount of kilometres per day, so we think it’s the right choice.
We are so proud of what we have accomplished, we’ve cycled 1,309km, over the Alps and through 6 countries. From commuting to work to an ultra endurance event and cycled further than other entrants.
Today the lead entrant arrived in North Cape, it could be said that we have endured for the same amount of time as he has 😆.
I’d like to once again thank everyone for your support, and for your donations to our just giving page.
What’s next for us? The Pan Celtic Race is only 1000 ish miles, which we’ve just ridden…
